About the Meitheal

The West Coast COVID-19 Meitheal is responding to the COVID-19 crisis in our community. In the short term, we aim to provide supports to people within our community who have had to self –isolate and we may do this through delivery of food, fuel and provisions or other suitable means. We will link with the local pharmacies to deliver prescriptions and forward queries from people in our communities to other existing supports or agencies. We will also provide telephone support, providing a listening ear and social contact to those in isolation and pass on official and evidence-based advice.

HSE Guidance on Community Support Activities during the COVID-19 crisis

The West Coast COVID-19 Meitheal are a collective group of volunteers from lead organisations and clubs in the parishes of Kilmurry Ibrickane and Miltown Malbay. Our remit covers Coore, Miltown Malbay, Mullagh, Quilty and their hinterlands. Our mission is to work as a collaborative to support each other, our communities and particularly vulnerable members of our area. We aim to provide the necessary support and resources needed to assist our community members most at risk during this difficult time. We will also work in support of, and in conjunction with, local government, State Agencies and other groups to ensure best possible care and assistance is available at this difficult time.
